Helpful stuff:
We know that we have made it a little more work for you to join us in Belize for our wedding. We want to provide you with all the information you need about traveling to Belize, and about what Belize has to offer as an adventure vacation.
Traveling is a research intensive affair and we’re going to share all of the essential details we find. Here are details that you might want to know once you decide to join us.
Getting there
San Pedro, Ambergris Caye, Belize
Fly into Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE)
Flights from Seattle are at around $650 RT now via Continental. There may be other options which work better for your specific itinerary.
America Airlines
Continental Airlines
Once at the airport, you can get to Ambergris Caye either on another short domestic flight or by water taxi.
If flying, you will be utilizing the following two domestic airlines to San Pedro Airport. The airfare is around $87-120 US and takes about 20 minutes.
Maya Island Air
Tropic Airways US$120
If taking water taxi, you will have to travel about 10 miles toward the water taxi terminal. The water taxi companies can arrange for airport pick-up at an additional charge. The fare for the water taxi is US$20 (BZ$40) The journey can take from 45 min to 2 hour depending on the number of islands it stops on the way.
Be aware that most International flights into Belize City arrive in the afternoon and may make it a challenge to get to the last water taxi of the day. It could be a tight connection between arriving, going through customs, getting luggage and making across town!
Once on San Pedro, most hotels will arrange to pick you up from either the airport or the water taxi terminal.

Accommodations for the wedding
We have finalized accommodation for our immediate family at Xanadu Resort, in San Pedro and the wedding will be on the beach of that resort. Xanadu is within walking distance from central San Pedro, but is off to the side, so a little remote.
We have negotiated a small discount with Xanadu off of their lowest rates. Tell them you are with the Kim/Franklin Wedding party and they should give you 5% off of your stay (3 night minimum). The nearby Caribbean Villas has also been quite nice to us so if Xanadu fills up or you would prefer a slightly less expensive room, that's a great walkable option.
Just to give you heads up, Xanadu accommodations will be about US$125 for a 1 bedroom suite based on double occupancy. Once we begin to develop a confirmed guest list, we will take care of all you sexy single travelers and provide bunking options too.
Please keep us in the loop on your travel plans or if you book a big suite and would like us to try and fill your additional space. We'd be happy to try and help defray your costs.
Things to do on or near San Pedro
- Ruins at Lamanai
- Snorkeling/diving in Hol Chan/Shark Ray Alley
- Dive the Blue Hole - Eric is taking scuba lessons this year to go and do this

After the wedding accommodations and activities (San Ignacio)
On the morning of the 8th, we will be leaving San Pedro and heading inland to the San Ignacio region. We will be staying at the Five Sisters Lodge. We've now booked this accommodation. We have two big things we really want to do while we're in San Ignacio, and we'll be arranging at least these two tours from the resort:
There are other incredible things to do in that region we're sure we'll do more, but these are the highest on our list right now. We know at least one group of folks may be going to San Ignacio a day ahead of us and taking the full day trip to Tikal in Guatemala to see the largest Mayan ruins in the world, so that could be an option too.
